ShopBIPOC is a free, online directory of local Black, Indigenous, and People of Color-owned businesses. The web-based directory, developed by a host of collaborators interested in helping uplift BIPOC businesses, is designed to make it easy for anchor institutions and other consumers to find local BIPOC-owned businesses. Unfortunately, the website development process is taking longer than anticipated. We expect the site will be in full swing by next quarter’s issue of Anchors Aweigh. We will notify you as soon as the site has a critical mass of local business profiles, as well as resources you can use to spread the word to your colleagues.
Thank you to those of you who gave us permission to include your logo on the ShopBIPOC website. The small businesses that provided input on the design and functionality of the website told us that seeing the names of CCWB’s institutional partners who plan to promote the site to their staff is a strong selling point for recruiting small businesses to register on the site. Please reach out if you want to include your institution’s logo on the site.
ShopBIPOC is expected to be a game changer for anchors and individual consumers committed to leveraging their everyday purchasing power to create a more inclusive and resilient local economy and community. Thank you for your patience!
