Holiday Market at St. Joe's Benefits Local Vendors and Our Community

from In the Know, the St. Joseph Hospital newsletter

Saint Joseph Hospital recently hosted a holiday market featuring products from eight hyper-local, neighborhood, Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) vendors. Chuck Ault, community improvement director, spearheaded this initiative by partnering with the Center for Community Wealth Building to identify these businesses with a purpose. This event not only benefits these vendors, but also supports Intermountain Healthcare’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and goal to improve the health of the communities we serve.

“Small actions like hosting this market can have a much bigger ripple effect,” says Ault. “Saint Joe’s is involved because building community wealth also helps health outcomes by addressing the social determinants of health. By keeping profits circulating throughout the local economy, neighborhoods are able to grow and thrive to include grocery stores with fresh food options and more local job and transportation options.”
